Guide to Domain Renewals with Registrar Transfer
These conditions must be met in order to change your domain's registrar : · The domain name must have been registered for more than 60 days.· You must have access to the Current Administrative Contact’s e-mail address - this will allow the Administrative Contact to verify the transfer request. very important! If you do not have access to this e-mail address, please contact your current registrar for information on changing it before initiating a transfer registrar request.· Domain can not be "On-Hold" or otherwise locked by the current registrar. This status might exist for many reasons, including lack of payment or domain expiration, pending disputes over ownership, bankruptcy, etc.Step 1 – Submit Transfer Request · Transfer is requested through our Online Form. The requested information is very much the same as for a new registration.Step 2 – Confirmation from current Administrative Contact · To verify that the transfer request is from an authorized party, the current domain Administrative Contact will receive an e-mail with simple instructions on how to confirm the request online. The Administrative Contact e-mail address is automatically retrieved by our system from the domain's current Whois information. You can view the domain Contact information by using our Whois interface here. The Administrative Contact acknowledges the transfer request (they can also refuse the transfer, or simply not respond, in which case the request will be cancelled after 7 days.) Step 4 – Request Forwarded · Once confirmed by the Administrative Contact, the transfer request is reviewed by us and forwarded to the current Registrar for approval. Step 5 – Registrar Review · The Current Registrar has five (5) days in which to either approve or decline the request. Should the current registrar take no action, the request will be automatically approved after the fifth day. All transfers include a minimum one-year renewal.· Once approved you will be notified by e-mail. You will then have access to your domain information via our real-time Domain Manager interface. You can use it to change information at any time, or simply to confirm the registration and expiration date, etc.Length of Process – Although often faster, the transfer process can take approximately 5 - 10 calendar days to be completed. *Please Note that nameserver information cannot be changed during a registrar transfer. This ensures that service to the domain is not inadvertently interrupted during the transfer process. Once the domain has been transferred, the Registrant can use the Domain Manager interface to change the nameserver information, if desired. |
