|
The Internet domain authority ICANN
has approved seven new top-level
domains for future use. These are the first new
generic top-level domains introduced since the Internet began in the
1980s, and will exist alongside the familiar .com, .net, and .org domains.
Contracts have been completed and schedules announced for the .biz
and .info domains. The exact terms of the remaining new top-levels
are still being negotiated.
Important Note! Each of these
new top-levels is administered by a separate registration authority
(Registry), and each has its own special rules, terms and timetables. It is
essential that registrants read and understand these separate rules and
terms before applying. See below for more information.
