What is involved is really "Internet promotion". Some of the methods are:
- Registering your Web site in selected Web indexes, such as the highly popular Yahoo index.
- Sending out notices to relevant Internet mailing list whose subscribers may be
interested in the customer's products and/or services.
- Posting notices in relevant USENET newsgroups so that participants of such groups
become aware of the customer's products and/or services.
NOTES
- Please refrain from sending out mass emails to Internet users. This is considered highly
offensive by many in the Internet community, and such mass mailings may backfire so badly
that you'll wish you had not done it. You have been warned!
- Among the three possibilities listed above, linking with other web site is very gentle,
if not immediately effective. Mailing lists are useful, but be careful not to abuse them.
This method potentially can backfire just as badly as sending out mass emails.
- Posting notices to selected USENET newsgroups requires you to be selective and tasteful.
It also has the potential of backfiring if not done carefully.
