| Canadian domain
registration has
changed! The .ca
registry, formerly operated by the University of
British Columbia, is now
overseen by a new, non-profit corporation called the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA)
(effective December 1, 2000).
Previously, registrants were only allowed one
ca domain registration per
individual or organization, and there were further rules restricting access
to the .ca space to federally incorporated organizations.
Important Changes:
New
Rules make ca domain registration available to all Canadian citizens.
New Rules
allow unlimited ca domain registration for anyone living or doing business in Canada.
Essentially, the only restrictions for new Canadian
domain registrations are that the
registrant must be any of the following:
Canadian citizens / Permanent Canadian residents, or legal
representatives of aforementioned Canadian corporations, trusts,
partnerships and associations.

To
Register your Canadian Domain Names, review the .ca domain registration rules and our service
terms, then follow our simple procedure:
What we will do:
- DomainNameRegistration.com programs for you the two (or more) Domain Name Servers
required for a
successful Canadian domain registration. Your Domain Name Service is maintained for the life of
your ca domain registration. (see information NOTE below)
- Canadian domain registrations are contracted for a fixed period, after which
they must be renewed. The standard initial registration period is ONE YEAR.
At your option you can also register through us for periods of 2, 5, or 10 years
for a prorated fee (fees are listed below).
- Existing ca domain registrations can be renewed one year or more at a time.
- The individual registrar of record for your ca domain registration is OpenSRS (Tucows), official
CIRA-Certified registrar.
- Once registered, new ca domain names will be set up to access a Temporary Page on the
Web like this.
- Once registered, you can transfer your ca domain name
without charge at any time to any Internet service provider for use.
- NOTE: After completing the ca domain registration process here,
first-time registrants will receive an e-mail
from the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) including a user id and password, which they
will have to enter on CIRA's secure Web site in order to accept
the CIRA
Registrant
Agreement (80k) [français].
