Redirection The Email Redirection feature automatically sorts through all incoming email messages and redirects them to their appropriate places. For instance, email sent to sales@your-company.com can be redirected to the person in your company who is in charge of sales - even if they have an outside email address such as employee@isp.net. With email redirection, you can thus implement an email routing system that is very
similar to the internal paper mail routing system of a large organization. In other words,
for your virtual host, you can create electronic counterparts of a mail sorting room and
"maildrops" or "mailstops" that are commonly used in the conventional
internal mail routing systems. Please note that in the above examples president and ceo, are names that are chosen by you. The multiple email redirection mechanism can handle anything of the form: any_name@your.domain. Further, you always have full control of this redirect mechanism, e.g. you can configure it all by yourself anytime you wish and the changes take effect immediately. All this is accomplished via a friendly web interface. Best, if you don't want to receive email at a particular redirect account (mailstop), you can simply deactivate it. This feature can be used say, for removing spam automatically or for stopping mailbombs. NOTE: these outside addresses that you redirect messages to, such as the two examples used above rickbl@chicago.com, and janes@newyork.com, must be REAL and FUNCTIONING before you can set up Redirect Accounts that employ them. Otherwise, incoming messages addressed to such accounts will bounce and you will never get them! |
